1971 Super Beetle
Convertible

1971 Super Convertible,
California-born, 2 years Ohio-garaged. Top is 3 years old. 4,000 miles on
rebuilt engine by MotorKars. Needs slight body work. $4,150 - OBO.

1957 Oval Window Beetle
If you like attention, this is
the car for you! It's a 1957 Oval Window Beetle, S/N 1584264 (body and pan
match). I bought this car with the intention of being a fair-weather
driver, but sadly I am forced to sell. Make no mistake, you will thoroughly
enjoy this car!
Paint - 5-6 years old, custom job with ghost flames. Looks like House of Kolor -
I have some touch-up paint that will come with the car. Normal nicks and
imperfections (remember, it's a driver!) when you get up close, but looks
stunning from any more than a few feet away. Really pops when the sunlight is
shining on it!
Engine - Regular 1600 D/P with Solex carb. Nothing fancy - a few chrome bits in
the engine compartment dress it up a bit, but other than that it's fairly
original. Will do 70mph on the freeway, and has decent pickup around town.
Suspension - Newer adjustable beam with new king/link pins, steering box, etc.
Back is on airbags, but there is only a compressor and tank (no release valves).
You can fill up the bags, but there's currently no way to release the pressure
other than gradually letting it drop. I usually drive it low, so when it starts
to bottom out, I just fill the tank a bit to pump them back up.
Wheels/Tires - Brand new tires front and rear with less than 500mi on them. I
tried my hand at painting some wide whites on them - they look OK. You can
freshen them up, or just flip them around and stick to the blackwall look. 135s
up front, 165s on rear. Rims and hubcaps are new - 4.5in in the front, 5/5in in
the rear.
Body - All trim has been removed, no door handles, no bumpers. Body appears very
straight, with no rust on the outside anywhere. Pans are solid with no rust.
This is a very solid car for being over 50 years old!
Interior - Custom interior with white vinyl and purple piping to match paint.
Flames embossed in doors and headliner. Empi trigger shifter, later model
steering wheel.
Electrical - Headlights/signals all work. Horn is on car but not hooked up.
Wipers have been removed, and holes plugged with fender washers.
Overall this is a very nice car. A few imperfections here and there, but then
again, I never intended for this to be a 100pt show car. I want something that I
can just get in and drive and enjoy. It gets plenty of looks! I'm asking $9,500
OBO - would consider partial trade for a solid driver:
Pre-66 Bug
Ghia
Thing
Bus
Etc...
I like my VWs LOW, so if you're offering a trade, it helps if it's already
squatting a bit. I can possibly deliver if it's within 200mi or so from
Columbus, OH ($1 per mile). Otherwise shipping will be your responsibility.
Email is the best way to reach me, but you can also call my cell phone
614-432-2171 before 9PM EST. If I don't answer, leave a message and I'll get
back to you shortly.
Additional pictures available upon request. I'm asking $9,500 for this car.

1973 Standard Beetle
Here's everything there is to know about the car. I hate to even think
about this... but in two weeks, I am moving to Tulsa and don't want to move 2
cars across the country. The car is currently garaged in Powell (2 miles
north of the zoo, on Riverside Drive).
$2200 - or make an offer.
I don't really WANT to sell... but logically, I should. So, low-ball offers are
right out.
The Good:
1641cc engine
- rebuilt in 2005
- less than 500 miles
- counterweighted crank
- fully balanced and cc'd
- 110 cam
- 1qt Gene Berg oil sump
- leaks a little oil (suspect the oil cooler) exhaust
- ceramic coated header
- ceramic coated hideaway muffler (tucks completely under right rear fender)
- heater boxes replaced with j-tubes
-brakes completely redone in 2006
-everything is new (with the exception of the steel line running from front to
back on the chassis)
-new Solex 34 pit 3 carb in 2005
-front end (suspension and steering) completely rebuilt in 2000
-new generator in 2006?
-engine propels the car nicely... great for spirited driving
-H4 headlights
-new window regulators 2005
-audio setup
- original Sapphire radio intact (and working)
- am/fm/tape/audio-in radio mounted in glove box
- equalizer/crossover mounted in glove box
- amp located in trunk
- full range speakers under the front seats
- 12" dual coil sub located in hidden enclosure behind back seat
-car had a GREAT time at an autocross event in 2006 :D
The Bad:
-running boards are going/gone due to rust
-floorboard on driver's side had new metal welded in 2005
-passenger's side could use the same
-the engine does not like to idle on its own- I'm sure with a small amount of
work, it would purr like a kitten
-passenger's door: original door was hit; still have the original door;
door currently on the car is primer gray

I have a set of 1966/1967
slots that are real VW stamped wheels. They are ready for
refurb, not bent and have old tires on them that still hold air but I would not
use
them on the road.
Also have new set of
running boards in the box (Brazilian)--I’ll take whatever they bring
because I am tired of tripping on them! Cell is best place to
catch me. Thanks.
