1974 Super Beetle Convertible
  • In 1974 this cute little bright red Volkswagen Beetle convertible arrived at the Toledo docks then headed to Columbus to meet its owner who had ordered it months before. It was love at first sight when Mary Lou McNutt gave her new car the name, "Lady Bug". To this day, Lady Bug' has remained with the McNutt family. For many years she took Mary Lou to the school where she taught. Then as time passed and the family grew, Lady Bug' became a hobby for Larry McNutt, who kept her 'ship shape'. He even joined the Central Ohio Vintage Volkswagen Club and participated in many local car shows and events. Since his passing 'Lady Bug' was retired to a cozy garage where she rests now. Below are some further details that might be of interest.
  • Has sat since 2011, engine does turn over
  • Has corrosion in drivers’ front wheel well and support rail area
  • Has been repainted in 2000
  • Is equipped with the AUTO STICK TRANSMISSION
  • Never traveled beyond the state of Ohio
  • Was ALWAYS kept in a garage
  • Was never involved in an accident
  • Has her ORIGINAL window sticker offering details, including cost!
  • Odometer reads 16,414, has turned over, indicating 116,414 actual mileage
  • She now needs some help to get her back to her 'old' self. So, we are looking for just the right person to give her the TLC she deserves.

1973 VW Thing
  • Found this car in a barn in southern Ohio 21 years ago.  Had 45K miles on it but had been abused.  Smashed front fenders, torn top, no reverse, weak engine.  Owners said they used it around the farm and it had been in the barn a good 12 years or more.  Was painted purple, we had body soda blasted and replaced fenders, top, side curtains , etc.  Had it painted original white.  Put in a Mofoco 1776 engine with hydraulic lifters, full flow oil filtering, high out put oil pump, and dual Kadron carbs.  Had transaxle rebuilt by Chirco of California.  Dual SS headers by The Thing Shop.  We used this vehicle as a tow behind our RV.  It’s been to British Columbia twice,  Yellowstone 8 times and the outer banks 15 times.  Not driven much locally except to a couple car shows years ago.
  • THE GOOD: runs great no mechanical issue’s, no real rust except for some surface spots under hood and engine compartment.  Top and side curtains in great shape, seat upholstery in good condition.
  • THE BAD: the brakes are creepy and always have been.  It doesn’t stop on a dime.  Been worked on by 2 different  mechanics and always the same,  there is a slight exhaust rattle, the speedo and odo do not work.  Had speedo rebuilt 2 years ago but it still doesn’t work, bought a new cable but never put it in.   Currently reads 48K miles.  Probably clocked 50K miles pulling it behind the RV.   Bet it has less 20K miles on motor and transmission.
  • THE UGLY: blinkers don’t work,  I’m no electrician. I have never used gas heater.  Burning gas for heat over a tank full of gas creeps me out.
  • Also never used vehicle in cold weather always garaged.
  • My kids grew up in this vehicle on trips, so it has tons of sentimental value.
  • Best offer over $18,000
