Volksfest 30

Watkins Memorial High School, Pataskala, Ohio Another Volksfest is in the books. After a year off due to Covid, and the show site layout changed due to school construction, it was quite a show, to say the least! We have been spoiled over the years to show up Friday evening before the show and have those two big tents magically appear, and have full access to the school building for goody bag packing, storage and restrooms (both the night before and the day of the show). With the high school completely fenced off, and also a large portion of the show car parking also fenced off, it was interesting, to say the least, to pull off the night before prep. But with an enthusiastic group of loyal COVVC members, we did it. Besides the lack of the big tent (we had to provide our own), tables and chairs were also in short supply. Absolutely nothing was easy, but come Saturday morning, the swappers were setting up, the overnight campers had behaved themselves, and the show cars rolled in, just like in years past. The Boy Scouts once again did their amazing job of spectator parking, and those lots were PACKED all day! It was great to get caught up with Chuck from C & G Sounds, and its like we hadn’t missed a beat since 2019. The Watkins Memorial Athletic Boosters again provided fantastic food for all in attendance, and there was a constant line(s) at their tent all day. As always, the quality of show cars continues to impress, and there were several newly completed cars that were breathtaking. The awards were handed out right on time, and another Volksfest was concluded. We are truly blessed to have so many loyal and dedicated club members that really step up for the show, and this year was no different. A very big, heart felt thank you to everyone that pitched in to make it another great show. Hope to see everyone at Tommy's Pizza in Dublin on September 9th for a more in depth show review. - By Mark and Debi Garrett |
